Helping children & teens manage anxiety

The Cool Kids Anxiety Program is an evidence-based program developed at Macquarie University, designed to help children and teens understand and manage anxiety with confidence.

At InnerVista Psychology, we deliver Cool Kids as individual or small-group sessions, with parents and carers actively involved throughout.

What is the Cool Kids Program?

Cool Kids is a structured, evidence-based program for children and adolescents who experience anxiety. It combines CBT techniques with practical skills the whole family can use.

Across the program, young people learn to:

  • · Recognise anxious thoughts and feelings
  • · Understand how anxiety works in the body and brain
  • · Use practical strategies to face worries gradually
  • · Build confidence in school, friendships, and family life
  • · Develop long-term tools for resilience

Parents and carers participate too, learning how to support their child without reinforcing the worry.

Who is this for?

Cool Kids is suitable for:

  • · Children aged 7–12 (Cool Kids)
  • · Teens aged 13–17 (Chilled, the teen version)
  • · Parents and carers who want to actively support their child

Common signs anxiety may be impacting a child or teen include:

  • · Excessive worry about school, friends, or family
  • · Avoidance of activities, separation, or new situations
  • · Frequent stomachaches, headaches, or sleep difficulties
  • · Perfectionism or fear of making mistakes
  • · Big emotional reactions to small situations
